Black and Green
Black and Green starts off with a bang! Camp has just wrapped up when Sang is summoned home. Her father has returned, along with his 'other' family. This is very bad for Sang. Carol, the new stepmother wants to move. The boys jump into action to figure out how to get Sang out of this mess and back with them for good!
The 'boy' focus in this book is Sean Green. He realizes he needs to step up his game with Sang to show her that he cares and wants her with him (and all of them!). But, his mother chooses this time to come for a visit. Sean has a complicated relationship with his mother; he never feels that he or his achievements are enough for her. Trying to please her is exhausting, and now he is worried about Sang as well.
Sean has always been one of my favorite boys. He is brilliant and a doctor, but when it comes to relationships, he is fairly inexperienced. Seeing the vulnerable side of him in Black and Green was so endearing. And, seeing his relationship with his mother progress was very sweet. Most of the boys have rough family experiences, so seeing Sean have a moment with his mom, whom he often finds exasperating, was delightful.
The story revolves around how the team is going to get Sang out of her house. Carol is determined to pull her out of school and move the whole family to Savannah. During all this, Sang's fainting spells are increasing. She needs rest, less stress, and better nutrition. However, she can't get any of that until she is away from her horrible family. While it takes the team some time to figure out a plan, when Sean and Owen finally stop quibbling they come up with a brilliant plan! I never saw that coming.
I adore the series so much that I just can't wait for each new book. Her having 9 love interests is tricky though because sometimes it felt like some of the boys weren't even in the book. I look forward to them working through all this as a team!
